I bought this sterling silver pendant from Ahima Jewellery for three reasons: 1) all their items are handmade in London, 2) they support educational causes in Ghana (I think education for all is vital, and I believe in brands more that care about the world in which we live), and I wanted to support this small black-owned business.

Also, to me, family is everything, whether by blood or bond. Even though I’ll keep sending kindness and love to everyone for the rest of my life, on a deeper level, people I call my “family” are a rare breed. You know who you are and why. So, this pendant is a permanent reminder of this and reminds me despite the dark days that will come in the future, my family will always have my back (and be my community) bringing the sunshine whenever I need it.
And before you ask, YES, I know, it’s a woman’s pendant, and Ahima Jewellery target market is women. But I’m not limited or confined to ridiculous cultural constructs of gender constraints of society, and as I liked the pendant, I bought it for myself.
